Until late February 2026, the UAE ranked among the safest countries in the world (5/5): very low crime and a strong police presence, which still holds day to day. Since the start of the conflict between the United States and Iran, however, missile and drone attacks have targeted the region. As of September 2026, Canada advises against all non-essential travel to the UAE and the United States advises travellers to reconsider travel: check your government's advice before booking.
No neighbourhoods to avoid for crime. Follow local authorities' instructions during alerts and keep an eye on your flight status: airspace closures and cancellations can happen at short notice. Do not photograph military sites or damage: sharing such images is heavily penalised.
